Our admissions process is all about communication. Enrollment for our Toddler Community is ongoing throughout the year. Children’s House students are generally admitted at the beginning of each school year, but applications are accepted year-round and admitted with availability. CRMS accepts CCAP as well as Think Small scholarships through our four-star Parent Aware rating, and additional tuition assistance is available to qualifying families.
Are you interested in applying to our school? We look forward to meeting you and getting to know your child! These steps will walk you through the process:
If you are interested in enrolling your child in Common Roots Montessori School, please get in touch! The Head of School can be reached by phone at (651) 222-1555 or email at info@chmschool.org.
Parents interested in the school are first invited to join us for a virtual tour. This includes a school tour and a session with our Head of School for additional information. Tours are scheduled Tuesday-Thursday at 9:30am.
Parents who have toured the school may submit an Application for Admission, along with a $50 non-refundable application fee.
The Head of School and Lead Guide will meet and discuss following your child’s visit. If accepted, an enrollment packet will be sent out promptly to the family. This packet will include an acceptance letter and enrollment contract to be signed by all parents/guardians. Families will have two weeks to respond to our offer of acceptance.
If our classrooms are fully enrolled, we will place your child’s name in our Waiting Pool. Once an opening becomes available, we admit new children from our Wait Pool, rather than on a first-come first-serve basis. We make every effort to balance our classrooms in accordance with the Montessori method.
Once Common Roots Montessori School has received the signed Enrollment Contract, along with the Registration Fee of $400, a place will be reserved for your child. Families will then receive their own copy of the Family Handbook, a Welcome Letter from your child’s new Guide, and your child’s Phase-in Schedule. All enrollment forms must be signed and submitted well before your child’s first day of school.
Once your application has been processed the Head of School will work with families to set up a time for their child to come visit the school. During this time, the Lead Guide will show your child the classroom environment, introduce some of the learning materials, and observe your child, which lasts about 15-20 minutes. While your child is spending time in the environment, parents are given the opportunity to meet with the Head of School and ask any questions about the continued admissions process.
To ensure your child has a positive experience during his/her transition, we provide you with a Phase-in Schedule for the first week of school. The phase-in takes place over the first 3-5 days, depending on which program schedule you select for your child. All parents/guardians are encouraged to attend the first day of phase-in to meet with the Head of School for a brief orientation. By the final day of phase-in our goal is for your child to be feeling comfortable enough to continue with his/her regular school schedule.
Our son, Auggie, was lucky to be one of CRMS’s first students when it opened its doors with welcoming arms in 2011. He progressed from the Toddler Community into Children’s House over the course of 4 years where he was gifted a beautiful, calm, organized & nurturing space which cultivated a confident, independent and respectful individual. The authentic Montessori experience was one that helped our son develop his love for learning and our world. He established valuable lifelong friendships and learned several life skills that continue to serve him well today. We will forever be grateful to CRMS, thank you!
