Common Roots Montessori School

Extended Care

’s Extended Care option offers the flexibility of an All Day Program with extended hours for both toddlers and preschoolers.

The All Day Children’s House is a unique model that supports children (ages 2.5-6) in an authentic Montessori environment. It is a “home away from home” providing a consistent, engaging and inspiring place for children to live out their day, while extending the Montessori learning experience.

Our Purpose

The Extended Day program allows children to flourish and grow as they continue their purposeful work in the classroom environment. Practical life work is a big part of the afternoon, as well as exploring with the sensorial, language, art and math materials. They also greatly enjoy music, as well as storytelling and reading together. Children may also choose to go outside for a mixture of group activities and free play. Extended day illuminates the child’s independence and helps them further develop their social skills, care for others & the environment, and fosters joy in their work and everything they do.

Our Vision

Our vision for the Extended Care program is to help children engage in work that captures their interest and imagination, in keeping with a Montessori classroom. We want to provide activities that are familiar to them from their Toddler Community/Children’s House as well as materials that are unique and special to Extended Care. The extended day program comprises students from both preschool classrooms, so children get the opportunity to make friends and practice socialization outside of their daytime peer group. Children also have the option to go outside in the evening, weather permitting.

Daily Schedule

This extended day option is available from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM each day.

Parent Reviews

Common Roots Montessori School has so much to offer. It has highly trained instructors in a clean and bright architecturally stimulating school. What a great balance between the structure of a larger school and the personal commitment of a smaller pre-school. When we visited, we were very impressed by the beautiful school. My son loved the classrooms. The combination of open space, natural light, modern aesthetic and the park-like setting seems perfectly designed to activate young learners.

CRMS truly feels like an extension of our home. The staff at CRMS are truly extraordinary. It’s impossible to find this many friendly and wonderful people in a single spot. We love CRMS and we definitely feel that love back!
